Chapter 1: Rekindling a love story….
PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING BLOG CONTAINS EXPLICIT LANGUAGE. And due to a WIX technical issue the blog pictures will have to be uploaded at a later date. Sorry.
So, what happens when a couple decide to rekindle a Love Story by interweaving it with Life Story? Duh, one of them writes about it.
What started off as a travel blog, took an abrupt left turn one day, when I thought who cares where we’ve been, the juicy parts are the conversations between two people trapped 24 hours a day in a truck and their tiny travelling home.
Sacred Question # 6: What would I put on my tombstone? (At the end of your life, what will be your legacy? What value will you have added to the world? What would you like to be remembered for?)
She loved, she laughed, she lived. She was beautiful.
One of the first things you need to know about us is that before we left on this Life Story we created aliases. You know, for when you meet people who want your contact information and you never want to hear from them again.
Well…. Meet the Schatz’s. Sian (yes it’s a female Welsh name pronounced Shawn, it’s a family name) and Sheryl his wife. Sian’s into waste management, portable shitters and septic pumping and Sheryl runs the whole shit show. Traveling with them are the “kids”, little Schatz, the dog and mini-Schatz, the cat.
Sacred Question # 7: How do I want to feel in each moment? (What are the sensations you want in your body, our heart and your mind?)
I want my heart to feel open and alive. I want my mind to feel free, light and curious and I want my spirit to be unburdened and unincumbered.
Then there are the pet names, Sherly’s is Jackass. She can be a real smart ass when she wants to be. And Sian’s? Well, he’s just known as Schatz.
Sheryl’s into peace, love, meditation and relaxation. But sometimes she can be a very complicated and intense person. Schatz, hmmmm, I’ll let you figure that out for yourself. All I’ll say is what you see is what you get.
Sacred Question # 8: What behaviors are feeling stale? What are the sensations you want in your body, your heart, and your mind?)
Jumping to conclusions. Bursting into anger. Drinking alcohol and binge eating junk food to escape my fears.
Picture it! Driving south along the USA Pacific Coast on highway 101 threw another small town on a Sunday in 1974. WHAT! Yep the Schatz’s have time traveled back to the 70’s because Casey Kassem is doing the weekly top 40 count down. Song number 4, “Could it be magic by”, wait for it, by Barry Manilow.
BAM! The rant begins as the Schatz’s get cut off by a driver who doesn’t know what a signal light is for.
Schatz: “Did you see that? No signal light! Fuck you, you fucking cunt.”
Sheryl: “Now Schatz, just listen to the music and mellow out.” (And so, he does.)
Next song to come on… “Run Joey Run” from 1975 by David Geddes. Both Schatz’s listen slacked jawed in a state of complete flabbergast to the disturbing lyrics. It left them both wordless, and that’s hard feat to accomplish.

Daddy please don't, it wasn't his fault, he means so much to me Daddy please don't, we're gonna get married Just you wait and see.
She called me up, late last night, she said joe, don't come over My dad and I just had a fight, and he stormed out the door. I've never seen him act his this way, my god, he's going crazy He says he's gonna make you pay, for what we've done, he's got a gun, so.
Run Joey run Joey run Daddy please don't, it wasn't his fault, he means so much to me Daddy please don't, we're gonna get married Just you wait and see.
I got in my car and I drove like mad, till I reached Julie's place She ran to me, with tears in her eyes, and bruises on her face All at once, I saw him there, sneaking up behind me, watch out! Then Julie yelled, he's got a gun, and she stepped in front of me Suddenly, a shot rang out, and I saw Julie falling I ran to her, I held her close, when I looked down, my hands were red, And here's the last words Julie said
Daddy please don't, it wasn't his fault, he means so much to me Daddy please don't, we're gonna get married Ah, ah Ah, ah
Run Joey run Joey run Joey run Joey run Joey run
Then they look at each other and simultaneously burst into hysterics.
They arrive at their first stop of the day, Defoe Winery in Pacific City Oregon. Sheryl jumps out at a red light, dashing across the busy street, weaving in and out of tourist to grab a well-reviewed bottle of Pinot Foch Vintage wine. Casey drones on about song number two and Schatz drives off to park.
Sheryl returns triumphant from dodging traffic with said bottle of wine. Schatz exclaims “Guess what? The number one song was by John Denver.” Only Sheryl would care.
Sacred Question # 9: How do I want to be perceived? (How do you want others describing you?)
Kind, caring, warm, funny, smart, wise, loving, compassionate, smart, healthy and calm.
Just another evening relaxing in bed, Sheryl reading Davidji’s book Sacred Powers, Schatz complaining there isn’t any cel phone service so no mindless video’s to binge watch. Sheryl turns to Schatz and says, “Hey, are you going to read that book by Brad Thor you grabbed from the free library?”
Schatz picks up the book tentatively and makes his way to the first chapter. He puts it down and says, “You know that’s not the writer’s real name. Everyone has an alias.” Sheryl replies with a smirk on her face, not bothering to lift her eyes from her own book. “Oh, you’re just jealous Schatz. You wish your name was Thor Schatz.”
Schatz rolls his eyes and says, “I love you, you fucking jackass.”
Now isn’t that a sweet love story….
